On Friday 1 May, Outware Mobile will be hosting its next Hackathon!

The theme for the event will be Health and we’re really privileged to have three great partners on board: VicHealth, HISA and nib Health Insurance.

The purpose of this event is to get creative and collaborate to develop working solutions to real health issues. It’s also a time to test new technologies and ideas, learn something new and have some fun!

Each partner organisation will present Outware Mobile with a challenge to address important issues in the health space using technology.

On the day, self-formed teams will come together to try and realise their solutions by bringing together multidisciplinary skills and “hacking”.

At our last Automation Hackathon, our teams came up with some incredibly innovative solutions including an NFC check-in app that we now use to keep track of all our test devices. Many other ideas have come to fruition  that we are continuing to work on. We’re looking forward to seeing some great ideas come out of the Health Hackathon that will help make a difference by addressing some important health issues.

If you’re interested in getting involved, please contact us or keep watching this space for more information.

Team Outware at Run for the Kids

On a brisk Sunday morning in March, Team Outware took part in the 2015 Run for the Kids 15.5km course.

For some of us, finishing the course itself was a huge challenge, considering we had never run this distance before. For others, the challenge was to beat a personal best time. With months of training and the help and support of the rest of the team, and the great atmosphere on the day, we all managed to cross the finish line without any dramas.

As a team, we came 22nd out of all 80 corporate teams that participated. We also raised over $1,800 for the Royal Children’s Hospital’s Good Friday Appeal.

Well done Team Outware and everyone else who took part in the run. It was amazing to see over $600,000 raised for such a great cause.
