At our recent Future of Retail Hackathon, eleven teams competed by building retail apps that would improve the Retail sector for consumers, employees and retailers.

The creative application of new mobile technologies are making the Retail sector an incredibly exciting place to be.

Social media, robotics, image recognition, near field communication, artificial intelligence, beacons and geofencing technologies mean that the smartphone will become essential to the retail experience.

Those retailers who can best harness this technology will outlast their competition and win the favour of their customers.

We’re really excited to showcase the winning projects from the day.

Outware Hackathon: The Future of Retail

Outware is hosting its next Hackathon!

We will spend a whole day in self-formed, multidisciplinary teams to create working software that solves problems or opens up new opportunities for the Retail sector. Expect a day full of creativity, innovation and fun!

Why Hack?
Hackathons are a great way to generate ideas, test new technologies, learn new skills, get creative, collaborate and have fun! All while creating working, usable software in a short space of time that solves a given problem.

Giving our team the time to do all of the above is one of the ways we invest in research, innovation and developing new approaches that lead our industry.

The results of a hackathon help us do our work better, and help our partners and clients to address new opportunities and solve real world problems.

Why Retail?
Our vision at Outware Mobile is to make a difference through creating mobile experiences that are intuitive, effective and engaging. The purpose of our work is to make useful software that removes barriers, saves time or gives people access to relevant information when and where it’s needed.

The Retail sector is ripe with opportunities to improve customer engagement, increase shopping convenience, and come up with new ways to meet customer needs and add value. Customer expectations are changing due to the ever-increasing convenience of performing simple tasks anywhere and anytime on mobile devices. We believe that the retailers who take advantage of mobile tech will lead the way for the Future of Retail.

When?
The Future of Retail Hackathon will be held on Tuesday 22 December, 2015.
