Upcoming Hackathon: BudgetHack banner

We’re really excited be a partner in Code for Australia‘s upcoming hackathon: BudgetHack.

Code for Australia is a passionate and skilled community that works with government to develop tech-based solutions to solve civic-problems. Through their work, they believe they can lend not only their voices, but their hands to drive collaboration and transparency, accelerate economic growth and reanimate citizenship. Outware is proud to partner with Code for Australia in our second joint hackathon event, alongside the Department of Premier and Cabinet as well as NAB.

BudgetHack is a two part Hackathon, where self-formed teams try to find technology solutions that will make the Government budgeting process more transparent and accessible to the communities that need it most. Register Now!

Hackathons are a great way to generate ideas, test new technologies, learn new skills, get creative, collaborate and have fun! All while solving real problems by creating working, usable software. We love hackathons and run several of our own throughout the year. Partnering with Code for Australia means more people, more ideas and more collaboration!

The Hackathon will be split over two dates, one fortnight apart.

23rd March @ Outware Mobile:  Level 3, 469 La Trobe Street, Melbourne

After a short presentation from the Victorian Government and Code for Australia, we will split into groups to work on how might we best make Victoria’s budget data from 2015 more accessible, understandable and transparent.

6th of April @ Zendesk: 3/395 Collins St, Melbourne

The teams will finalise their projects, whip up a 2min presentation and present to a panel of judges. Minister for Small Business, Innovation and Trade Mr Philip Dalidakis MLC will then present the winning teams with the cash prize.

Not a techie? That’s ok! We encourage non-technical folks to pair up and learn from our community’s designers and developers. We’ve seen time and time again, the best civic projects come from multi-disciplinary teams can can bring together various perspectives and expertise.
