Media Release: Netball Live brings NWC2015 to the world’s fingertips

Netball World Cup SYDNEY 2015 will be broadcast to more fans than ever before with mobile app Netball Live to stream all 64 games of the tournament to mobile handsets and tablets around the world.

Netball Live, launched earlier in the year in partnership between Netball Australia, Telstra and the Australian Sports Commission, has been updated to include Netball World Cup SYDNEY 2015 and Australian Diamonds sections.

The sport’s first dedicated mobile app with live streaming will provide unprecedented coverage of the World Cup with all games at Allphones Arena to be streamed live online while the remaining matches at Netball Central will be available on delay.

Netball Live, available from the App Store and Google Play, provides live scores, statistics, news and video for free and subscribers [$2.99 weekly (iOS) $12.99 monthly (Android), $29.99 annually (iOS and Android)] the opportunity to watch every game of Netball World Cup SYDNEY 2015. Netball World Cup SYDNEY 2015 matches will be available to existing Netball Live subscribers.

Netball World Cup SYDNEY 2015 CEO Marne Fechner said Netball Live supports the tournament’s ambition of delivering netball to the world.

Netball Live will ensure that the Netball World Cup for the first time ever is accessible to fans in all corners of the world, with access to live games, news and information at their fingertips,” Fechner said.

Telstra’s Director Digital Media Adam Good said the Netball App’s World Cup debut will be an opportunity for more fans than ever before to connect with the game.

“Live-streaming apps are extremely popular with sports fans and we’re thrilled Netball Live is available to help fans get closer than ever to the game they love during the upcoming World Cup,” said Good.

Netball Australia and the Australian Sports Commission partnered with Australia’s largest mobile development company, Outware Mobile, to deliver the official Netball Live app for iOS and Android.

Netball Australia partnered with Telstra and Outware Mobile because of the team’s experience in building award-winning apps that fans love to use such as the popular AFL Live app.

Due to existing broadcast rights, streaming of matches is not available in New Zealand.

Netball Live is available to download now from the App Store and Google Play.

In this episode, Keith Smyth (Android Team Lead), Danny Gorog (Director/Founder) and first timer Anthony Richardson (Project Manager) are joined by a very special guest, pro podcaster, Sean Callanan, from SportsGeek. Outware Mobile is very pleased to announce our partnership with Netball Australia to create the Netball Live app in time for the 2015 ANZ Championship, which kicked off on Saturday 28 February.

Mobile technology is changing the way we want to watch sports, engage with our sports teams and keep informed about team and club news. With this in mind, the app has been designed to boost engagement with fans ahead of the Netball World Cup in Sydney later this year. The new mobile platform will mean that more people than ever before will be able to watch the game.

Netball Live delivers users a world-class sports entertainment experience and completes the broadcast strategy to deliver national and international netball to fans across free-to-air, subscription television and mobile platforms.
