The latest episode of the OMPodcast is available to download – v1.9 You Wear It. We had a crew of long-time Outwarians on the show. From left to right; Kieran Fleming (Android Dev), Pete Talbot (Design Team Lead), Doug Togno (iOS Dev) and myself, Kent Humphries (iOS Team Lead).

We talked about the current proliferation of wearables and which ones are likely to stick. We all agreed that Google Glass still needs some iterating, but it provided some interesting use cases to discuss. Doug and Pete shared some first hand opinions about Pebble and what they’re looking for in a smart watch. How long until we’re all wearing smart devices?

Outware is getting a lot of press today about the impending launch of AFL Live for Pebble Smartwatch.

Outware Mobile has been working with Telstra media for over 3 years to create the AFL Live Official app for iPhone, iPad, Android phone and Android tablet for the 2012, 2013 and 2014 football season.

This year we are pleased to partner with Telstra and AFL to launch AFL Live for Pebble Smartwatch, the world’s first live sports app for Pebble.

The app is a must-have for footy fans. The simple screen layout makes it easy to see at-a-glance scores and the ‘vibrate on goal’ feature means that you’ll know when all the action has happened when your watch vibrates.

According to a new report from NextMarket Insights, the growing adoption of smartwatch software and wireless technologies by traditional watchmakers, the continued advancement of screen and mobile processor technologies and the strong expansion of smartwatches in the children and health/active lifestyle segments will drive the overall smartwatch market from 15 million watches shipped in 2014 to over 373 million by 2020.

With existing, demonstrable experience developing on platforms like Pebble and Google Glass, Outware Mobile remains on the forefront of innovation in the mobile software development industry.
