MSO Learn for iPhone and iPad is designed to teach children and adults alike about the inner workings of the MSO and its musicians.
Launched to coincide with MSO’s inaugural Education Week, MSO Learn for iPhone and iPad is the first App of its kind to offer the user an advanced interactive audio-visual exploration of an orchestra, featuring the different instrumental families, individual instruments and the musicians who play them.
The App allows users to delve further again to learn and listen to each instrument and meet a member of each section from the MSO.
MSO musicians, including Concertmaster Wilma Smith, are profiled in the App, answering questions ranging from their choice of instrument to which sporting team they support.
They are joined by the MSO’s Patricia Riordan Associate Conductor, Benjamin Northey, who was conducting the MSO when the featured music – Percy Grainger’s Shepherd’s Hey.
